Welcome to the tenth research seminar of the Swedish Society for Research in Mathematics Education

The theme of the seminar is ICT in mathematics education: the future and the realities

All researchers in mathematics education, teacher educators, teachers and others with an interest in mathematics education research are welcome!

Call for papers
Participants at the seminar are invited to submit research papers for presentation and discussion. The main language of Madif-10 is English, but papers written in Swedish are also welcome. Papers on all areas of mathematics education research are welcome. Contributions directly related to the seminar theme will be placed in a specific strand in the program. This year, we particularly welcome theoretical and methodological papers and papers that retrospectively or progressively outline research programs. Each accepted contribution will be given a 45 minutes in parallel sessions – including time for discussant and general discussion.

Submission of papers:
The paper is to be sent to the chair of the program committee no later than October 13, 2015 (the e-mail address is given below). Please note that the paper has to be submitted as a Word file to be accepted and be no more than ten pages A4. An anonymized version of the paper should also be submitted. In this version author names, references by the authors and other details that could identify the author are removed. Papers should be written in the template and follow the guidelines; see links below.

Review process of papers:
Submitted papers will be reviewed by at least two other researchers through a double blind peer review. Authors are expected to participate in the review process by reviewing other contributions. The review is intended to be constructive, i.e. the assessment shall also be supplemented with any suggestions for improvement of the paper.
Decisions about paper acceptance are made by the program committee. Authors will be notified by December 1, 2015 if their contribution is accepted or not for presentation at the conference. At the same time, a review report will be sent, indicating what changes are needed for the manuscript to be published in the conference proceedings.
A revised version must be submitted no later than January 4, 2016. If the program committee find that the contribution needs further work to meet the requirements described in the review report then an updated paper must be submitted to the program committee by March 1, 2016. Contributions that fail to reach a satisfactory level will not be published in the conference proceedings.

Call for discussant
At each paper presentation, a specially appointed person (known as a discussant) will chair the session and initiate a discussion by presenting a short response to the paper. If you are interested in being a discussant, please contact the program chair no later than December 15, 2015.

Call for short presentations
At Madif-10, there is also the opportunity to provide a short communication. In a short communication you can present and discuss parts of projects or ongoing research. The research component must be clear in the proposal. The proposal should contain a short summary of the contribution of no more than two pages A4 and must follow the guidelines: see below. During the presentation at Madif-10, the author may provide a hard-copy of a longer version of the proposal to interested participants. Each accepted short communication will be allocated 20 or 30 minutes (including time for discussion) in the program, depending on the total number of contributions, in parallel sessions.

Submission of short communications:
A short communication, no longer than two pages A4 is to be send to the chair of the program committee no later than October 13, 2015 (e-mail address is provided below). Please note that the paper has to be submitted as a Word file to be accepted.

Review process of short communications:
Decisions about short communication acceptance are made by the program committee. Authors will be notified by December 1, 2015 if their contribution is accepted or not for presentation at the conference. Short presentations will be published in the conference proceedings with only the title and abstract.

NEW! Call for symposium
Participants in the seminar can propose a symposium. Groups of three can decide to hand in their papers together around a common theme, and propose a moderator amongst them. A symposium will be given 90 minutes in parallel sessions in the program (including time for discussion).

Submission for symposium
A symposium submission should contain a description of the proposed theme (maximum two pages A4) and the abstracts from the three papers (250 words per paper). The submission has to be handed in before October 13, 2015. The abstracts should contain the following: aims of the research, theoretical framework, methodology, main results and implications. Please note that the symposium submission has to be submitted as a Word file using the madif-10 template (see below) to be accepted.

Review of symposium
After the symposium, the participants are offered the opportunity to hand in a common paper for publication in the conference proceedings, to be reviewed by a least two other researchers. The paper should be handed in no later than March 1, 2016 and should not be longer than ten pages A4 following the guidelines: see below.
