NORMA 2027 – The 11th Nordic Conference on Mathematics Education

The Organising Committee warmly invites researchers, teacher educators, doctoral students, teachers, curriculum developers and policy makers to participate in

the NORMA 2027 – The Nordic Conference on Mathematics Education, to be held at Tallinn University, Estonia, from 8 to 11 June 2027.

NORMA is the major Nordic conference on mathematics education research. Since its inception in 1994, the conference has served as an important meeting place for the Nordic mathematics education research community while welcoming participants from across Europe and beyond. NORMA provides a forum for presenting current research, exchanging ideas, establishing new collaborations, and discussing emerging challenges and opportunities in mathematics education.

Conference theme: ”(No) Tradeoffs Between Human and Machine Intelligence in Mathematics Education”

The rapid development of artificial intelligence is transforming mathematics education in profound ways. AI creates new opportunities for supporting mathematical learning, teaching, assessment and research, while simultaneously raising important questions about the complementary roles of human and machine intelligence. NORMA 2027 will explore how mathematics education research can contribute to understanding, designing and evaluating these changing relationships, and how AI can strengthen rather than replace mathematical thinking, creativity, communication and professional judgement. The conference welcomes contributions addressing the conference theme as well as all other areas of mathematics education research.
